Dear GIYer,

The brand, spanking new GIY website is about to go live and we have had to take the site offline for 48 hours (from Wednesday 25th), so that we can switch over. The new site will include all the best bits from the old one and lots of new features including:

• A fantastic new homepage design to make the site more dynamic and intuitive: for e.g. the site's most useful features (e.g. To-Do List, Tip of the day, most recent articles etc) will be available to read directly on the home page.
• A fresh new style across the site and a Top Menu Redesign: more intuitive grouping of information on the site
• Information on the site will be much easier to access
• We fully admit the old forum wasn't up to much, so we're moving to a brilliant new forum engine which will foster more discussion on the site.
• Improved "My Profile" pages: for e.g. includes access to your orders on the GIY shop
• Nasty bugs removed: there were some annoying bugs in the old system that have been removed!
• New shop page: the GIY website has over 300 products to make your GIYing easier. The new shop will make it easier to find them and a more enjoyable experience all round.
• Important Note on the Activity Feed: users will no longer be able to post directly to the activity feed on the home page - we know that this is a feature that some users really liked, but it was killing the forum pages and didn't always work well.

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused while we're offline. If you haven't checked in with the GIY website for a while, we hope you will take a peak at the new site this weekend. It's awesome!
